HC dismisses petition seeking probe against CM in gold smuggling case
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking an investigation against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in connection with the gold smuggling case.
A bench including Chief Justice S. Manikumar rejected the petition filed against the CM among others. The HC clarified that the National Investigation Agency is probing the case and the NIA can investigate every aspect of the case.
The HC refused to intervene in the gold smuggling case. The central government had informed the HC that the NIA had started investigating the case. The HC observed that there was no need for it to intervene in the matter as the NIA investigation is underway.
The court also observed that there was no need to order a special investigation into the matter and dismissed the petition.
The petition seeking a probe against the CM and others was filed by Cherthala native Michel Varghese. The petitioner had sought to investigate the Sprinklr deal also.
