HC cancels appointments of assistant professors to Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University
Kochi: The High Court cancelled the appointments of ten assistant professors of Tirur Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University. The order of Justice P Chali claims that the appointments were against the rules and regulations of the University.
The court’s order came after it considered the petitions filed by Dr. P Sathish and Dr. M Priya, who had also applied for the same posts. The court observed that the selection committee did not have subject experts in it.
The order also states that the selection process was not transparent. The committee did not function in a way that could evaluate the qualification of the candidates. The order also states that either the Vice Chancellor or the Pro- Vice Chancellor should have nominated minority community persons, women or differently abled persons to the selection committee if there were applicants from those sections of the society.
The notification for the post was put out on July 22, 2016. The petitioners claimed that the appointments breached the 2010 UGC rules and regulations on minimum qualification.
