Kochi: The Kerala High Court has requested KSRTC to provide details of buses lying idle at depots and dumping yards in the state. The court demanded details on the number of buses, age, total kilometres driven and the project planned to handle them.
The division bench comprising Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice PG Ajith Kumar asked KSRTC to provide details based on a PIL filed by Kasaragod native N Raveendran. It was alleged that 2800 buses are left abandoned by KSRTC in the state.
KSRTC said that around 600 buses were left in yard after completing service period. Court viewed that KSRTC should pay more attention to such matters at a time when the board is struggling financially.
