HC Advocates’ Association suspends Sebastian Paul
Kochi: The Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association, on Wednesday, suspended noted lawyer and former MP Dr. Sebastian Paul from its primary membership.
According to the notice served by the association, the action was taken for issuing statements in media denigrating the judiciary and legal fraternity.
It further says that the association received complaint against the stances taken by Sebastian Paul. The executive committee found the allegations were prima facie sustainable and hence the disciplinary action has been taken, it adds.
Meanwhile, condemning the decision, Sebastian Paul said he has not spoken against the association.
"By suspending me, the association has proved that they are unwilling to arrive at a compromise,” he added.
Sebastian Paul had earlier criticised the restriction on media in High Court and his standpoints favoured mediapersons.
Sources said the association is likely to take action against few more lawyers, who had taken similar stance.
