HC acquits Biju Radhakrishanan in murder of wife
Kochi: In connection with the sensational Reshmi murder case, the high court on Friday acquitted prime accused Biju Radhakrishnan, who is also accused in solar scam, and second accused Rajammal, Biju’s mother. High court observed that allegation against the accused was not proved due to the lack of evidences.
Biju was framed under Sections 304 of IPC for murdering his wife Reshmi, 201 of IPC for destroying evidence and 323 of IPC for child abuse. Rajammal was found guilty under section 498A of IPC for dowry harassment.
Biju was found guilty in the murder of his wife Reshmi by the Kollam district sessions court. Rehsmi was murdered on February 4, 2006.
The verdict of sessions court was quashed by the high court. The trial court had sentenced him to jail. He was awarded a life term on January 24 in 2014 and has been serving his term in the Poojappura Central jail.
Earlier, case under dowry harassment was slapped upon them. But the murder case was imposed when the solar scam surfaced.
