Hartal violence: 266 arrested in Operation Broken Window
Thiruvananthapuram: The police have started the Operation Broken Window to nab those who unleashed violence during the hartal called by Sabarimala Karma Samithi. The police are searching for the culprits by deploying a special squad.
In connection with the incidents of violence in various places across the state, 266 persons were arrested and 334 were held in preventive detention. The police informed that the arrests in hartal violence cases will continue.
The police have planned to prepare an album of the culprits by collecting the images and videos of the attacks. A list of attackers in each district will be prepared separately and handed over to the district police chief. A special digital squad has been formed by the police for this purpose.
Widespread untoward incidents were reported from across the state in connection with the hartal called by Sabarimala Karma Samithi in protest over the young women entry into Sabarimala. CPM and BJP workers engaged in fights at many places. Media persons were attacked in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kozhikode.
