Kochi: In connection with the death of a COVID-19 patient at the government medical college hospital in Kalamassery, the police are recording the statements of his relatives.

Harris, a COVID-19 patient, died on July 20 while undergoing treatment. Following this, his family had raised allegations of medical negligence against the hospital authorities.

A complaint in this regard was registered and the statements of his relatives are being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. The statement of Harris’ brother-in-law is being recorded at present.

It was the brother-in-law who had registered the complaint on Harris’ death. Though complaint was registered with the hospital authorities after 7 days, no action was taken.

Following this, the brother-in-law filed a complaint at the Kalamassery police station on October 20. Harris’ family had alleged that he had talked to them on the day of the death.

Harris spoke with his wife at 5 pm on the same day. Around 6 pm, hospital authorities informed them of the death, they stated. Meanwhile, police said that a detailed probe will be conducted after recording the statements of the relatives.
