Kottayam: A woman miraculously survived after being trapped under a KSRTC bus in Chingavanam on Monday evening. Ambili (36), a Kurichy native and a staffer at Itthithanam Higher Secondary School, was rescued by locals.

The accident happened near Puthanapalam. Ambili, who works as a helper on the school bus, was hit by a KSRTC superfast bus. She was returning to the school bus after helping a child cross the road.

Her hair got trapped underneath the front tyres of the KSRTC bus. After realising that she had suffered injuries to her head, the locals quickly cut her hair to free Ambili. They rushed her to the Chenganassery Taluk hospital. She was soon discharged.
