Thrissur: Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple here has been possessing deposits worth Rs 1737.04 crore in various banks and 271.05 acres of land.

The details of assets and properties owned by the temple came to light in reply to an RTI filed by the president of Proper Channel, MK Haridas. At the same time, the Guruvayur Devaswom board refused to provide the value of gems, gold, and silver in their possession, citing security reasons.

It is learnt that Haridas will file a petition in the court against the Guruvayur Devaswom Board for refusing to disclose information about jewels in the temple.

The Devaswom informed that the government is yet to take action over a High Court order mandating the return of Rs 10 crore handed over by the Guruvayoor Devaswom to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund after the floods in 2018 and 2019.
