K Surendran at press meet
Kochi: BJP state president K Surendran said that the involvement of the chief minister and his office in the gold smuggling case is becoming more clear. He also alleged that the smugglers received help from the office of the chief minister.
There is mystery behind the appointment of the UAE attaché's gunman who attempted to commit suicide. He was appointed in order to fulfill the vested interests of the state government, Surendran said during a press meet in Ernakulam.
The state government claims that the gunman was appointed for security as directed by the central government. But no such instruction was given from the Ministry of External Affairs. They only directed to arrange security to the UAE consulate and not to appoint a personal gunman for the attaché, Surendran said.
This person was appointed in order to manage the dealings of higher officials related to the government. He was appointed considering his experience with airports, emigration and Customs department, Surendran added. He also criticised K T Jaleel saying that people will realise his true colours.
