Gross negligence reported in Sanal's death
Thiruvananthapuram: It has been found that police have shown gross negligence in taking Sanal to hospital after he was allegedly pushed in front of a vehicle by DySP Harikumar in Neyyattinkara. The police took him to the police station ignoring the fact that he was seriously injured. Mathrubhumi News received visuals of this incident.
The injured man was first taken to the police station in an ambulance after the incident. Later, they shifted him to the general hospital after realising his condition was deteriorating. He was taken to medical college by 11.30 pm. But one and a half hour had passed till then. He died on way to the hospital.
It is learnt that Sanal was taken to the police station as the police officer who was in the ambulance had to change duty. This was a serious lapse from the part of Neyyattinkara police as they delayed taking an injured person to hospital.
As the incident led to a controversy, two police officers who delayed taking Sanal to hospital were suspended. Civil police officers at Neyyattinkara station Sajeesh Kumar and Shibu were suspended. Action was taken against them on the basis of special branch report.
