The 28-member squad of Green Action Force
Wadakkanchery: Green Action Force (popularly known as Haritha Karma Sena) of Varavoor in Thrissur is all set to collect and process inorganic waste.
The 28-member women team who have received training from Clean Kerala Company will be catering to 4,590 houses and more than 100 shops and establishments.
Interestingly, they have already started collection in 14 wards under the panchayat and have been distributing the hygiene calendar.
The force will charge Rs 50 from households and Rs 100 from shops and establishments as fees for the collection.
The plastic covers, bottles, footwear, bags and tube lights need to be properly washed and cleaned before the members come for collection.
Rs 1,54,000 has been allocated as Viability Gap Funding (VGF) / grant for the venture.
According to the panchayat president, Rs 6 lakh has been allocated for the installation of bio-bins in the houses.
The segregation of the waste happens at Micro & Small Enterprises Facilitation Council (MSEFC) in Naduvattom. Bailing machine drinking water facility has been included with the Block Panchayat’s Rs 30 lakh financial aid.
Clean Kerala Company has been incorporated through a contract for handing over the inorganic waste.
