Graft, not liquor policy, reason for UDF defeat: KCBC
Kottayam: The KCBC anti-liquor body said here on Tuesday that the UDF suffered a drubbing in the recently held Assembly polls not because of its liquor policy but for the graft allegations prevailing in the front. The common man went against the UDF due to the rising graft complaints.
KCBC has come out with a statement after Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala made a remark that the liquor policy of the previous UDF government did not prove to be beneficial to the front and the party must decide whether a change is needed in the liquor policy.
Meanwhile, KCBC president V M Sudheeran clarified that there is no need for a rethink on the liquor policy. Even the League feels the defeat was not due to the liquor policy.
