Govt yields to CBI request in Periya case; allots Camp office in Kasaragod

Kasargod: The CBI which will investigate the Periya twin murder case, has been allotted the Kasaragod Camp office for functioning and the government has issued an order. The camp will function from PWD rest house and will be officially handed over next week.

The CBI has also requested for manpower and vehicles besides allotment of camp. Alloting staff is under the consideration of the police chief and would be ready by next week. The staff from police department would be given to the CBI. The CBI Thiruvannathapuram unit will investigate the murders of two Youth Congress workers at Periya in Kasaragod district.

The CBI had forwarded a letter to the state seeking a camp office to stay put in Kasaragod and investigate the case. But the government did not consider the initial request. As the decision was pending, the CBI approached the government again and a camp office was allotted.

After reaching Kasaragod and conducting a preliminary inquiry into the murder, the CBI team left for Thiruvananthapuram. The CBI team comprises SP Nandakumar Nair and DySP Anandakrishnan. The CBI team will reach Kasargod next week for further proceedings related to the case.
