Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to seek permission of the Governor and the Speaker for investigation against Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and former minister V S Sivakumar in connection with the bar bribery case.

The government is moving to initiate the probe on the basis of the new revelation made by Biju Ramesh, the businessman who raised allegation in bar bribery issue. Earlier, the file for further probe, after the quick verification by the Vigilance, was submitted for the Chief Minister’s permission.

However, the government can proceed to next step only with the permission of the Governor and the Speaker as the alleged accused are public representatives and a probe was held against them already. With this, the government decided to seek permission.

The file seeking permission of the Governor and the Speaker will be forwarded within one or two days. Once the permission is granted, the government will proceed to next phase of investigation. The government has already taken the decision in this regard.
