Thrissur: BJP vice-president Adv B Gopalakrishnan said that the state government should file FIR against CPM MP John Brittas for his hate speech at the Mujahid state conference held at Calicut.

"Recently, the Supreme Court permitted every state to take Suo Moto action to file FIR against hate speeches without waiting for any formal complaint. The govt should have done the same for John Brittas, elected Rajya Sabha MP from Kerala, for his hate speech at the Mujahid state conference held at Calicut," Gopalakrishnan said.

Gopalakrishnan pointed out that CPM MP had instigated the Muslim community to war against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the union government. "He stated that the govt led by Narendra Modi is against Muslims and their sentiments. He accused that the Central govt has not provided religious freedom to the minority and the Muslim community must protest against the govt. "

"In his article in a national daily, he stated that the union Home Minister Amit Shah is trying to replace the Constitution with Manusmriti. On receiving the complaint, the Rajya Sabha chairman issued a notice seeking an explanation for the same. Instead of issuing the notice, the govt should have registered a case against John Brittas under sections 153, 153B and 295A of the IPC act," the BJP leader said.

Gopalakrishnan argued that Brittas's made communal, instigating religious sentiments at the Mujahid conference and also made false allegations without any evidence in the newspaper article. Therefore, the BJP leader asked the state government to register a case against Brittas.
