Malappuram: Thuyyam GLP school at Edappal here has also adopted gender-neutral uniform promoting equality among students. This government school in Malappuram has proved that rather than preaching on gender equality, it should be implemented in life.

The school introduced the gender-neutral uniform after holding talks under headmaster K Setumadhavan.

Now, boys and girls can run and walk freely without any gender difference, said students in one voice after wearing the new uniform.

The teachers who initiated this new change became double happy after knowing the reaction of students.

The school has adopted a uniform which includes a brown colour bermuda shorts and beige colour shirt.

"PTA and parents also approved the idea of gender-neutral uniform. After seeking opinion of all, we fixed the berumuda shorts and shirt as uniform," said the teachers.

Materials of the uniform were distributed to the students under the government uniform distribution project. The students have started wearing the gender-neutral uniform from Monday.
