Kannur: Security is provided not for chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan but instead for those who charge in front of the CM’s envoy holding blag flags, said CPM state secretary MV Govindan on Saturday.
While speaking to Mathrubhumi News, MV Govindan said the state government's policy decisions are not decided by Pinarayi Vijayan alone. "There is no basis on the allegation that the party has given a blank cheque to Pinarayi Vijayan. It is the LDF which handles the government's policy decisions. Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers handle the day-to-day business of the government."
"The chief minister has a security cover but not a high-level security. In reality, security is not for Pinarayi Vijayan. It aims to protect those charging at CM's convoy," he said.
He also criticized UDF and remarked that black flag protests are not "popular protests."
Kerala Chief Minister resorted to using the helicopter on Saturday to travel to Palakkad. The move came in the backdrop of CM's convoy facing protestors brandishing black flags.
