Govt restricts teachers on long-leave from resuming duty in March
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government issued an order restricting teachers, who are on long-leave, from joining duty in March, during the end of an academic year. Seven years ago, the government issued a similar direction to the teachers. But neglecting this, many teachers resumed their duty in March by cancelling long leave.
It is observed that the students will not benefit from teachers who rejoin duty in March. At the same time, the government has been facing a huge financial burden as summer vacation salary of two months should be given to these teachers too.
Hence, the government ordered that teachers who took long leave for various purposes including higher studies, foreign visit to meet their spouse, treatment with or without medical certificate and higher-paying jobs would not be allowed to resume work in March.
The new order noted that the teacher must take leave for the period including summer vacation.
