Govt rejects amicus curiae report on flood; says no need for judicial probe
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has rejected the amicus curiae report on flood which attributed the reason of the flood havoc to lapses in dam management. In an affidavit submitted to the High Court, the government said that the report by amicus curiae is not scientific and there is no need for a judicial probe.
The report is based on certain statistics rejected by science experts. Central Water Commission had confirmed that extremely heavy rainfall resulted in the floods, the affidavit said.
Amicus curiae Jacob P Alex had submitted the report in High Court stating the lapses in dam management resulted in the deadly floods that hit the state last year. He had also demanded a judicial probe.
Amicus curiae was appointed after many complaints were filed alleging government failed to handle the havoc properly.
