Govt plans to prepare PSC rank lists proportional to vacancies: CM
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that the government is mulling preparation of PSC rank lists proportional to vacancies and abiding by the rules related to reservation.
This move is likely to reduce the rank lists. Addressing the assembly here on Friday, the CM informed that Justice Dinesan Commission will study the scope of the matter and submit recommendations.
He was responding to the submission of MLA H Salam in the assembly.
As per the present criteria, PSC rank lists are being prepared by including more candidates than the expected vacancies. PSC has been giving advice memos to the reported vacancies as per the rules related to reservation. Hence, all candidates named in the rank lists were unlikely to get an appointment.
Meanwhile, as per the policy of the Kerala government, available vacancies should be reported to the PSC and appointments should be carried out before the expiry date of the rank lists. For this purpose, officials who are in charge of the appointment are directed to report the available vacancies online.
The government observed that including more candidates in the rank list without considering the available vacancies will result in exploitations and unwanted developments. In view of this, the government is considering preparing the list proportional to the reported vacancies.
“The government is examining the need to publish present vacancies in departments or firms, the number of employees, their retirement date, long leave and posts which should be filled on the websites of respective departments or firms,” informed the CM.
