Govt opposes anticipatory bail plea of Bhagyalakshmi, two others
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has opposed granting anticipatory bail to dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi and two others in the case related to the attack on a YouTuber who made derogatory comments.
The dubbing artiste and two of her friends attacked a YouTuber named Vijay P Nair after he made derogatory comments about women in a video uploaded on his channel.
Opposing Bhagyalakshmi’s bail plea, the prosecution argued that granting bail to her will encourage others to take law and order into their own hands.
Bhagyalakshmi, activists Diya Sana and Sreelakshmi Arakkal have moved an anticipatory bail plea in the court after they were booked over attacking Vijay P Nair.
The second additional court considered their petitions on Wednesday. But representing the government, the prosecution opposed granting bail to the trio. The prosecution observed that if anticipatory bail was granted to them, more people will come forward to violate law and order.
The court will pronounce the final verdict regarding the bail pleas on October 9.
