Changanassery: NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair demanded the government to withdraw cases taken against devotees who took part in the Namajapa procession in connection with the Sabarimala women entry issue.
Many devotees, including women, remain accused in the cases. Most of them are unemployed, students and those awaiting job opportunities inside and outside the state. Many innocent devotees, who came to Sabarimala for darshan have also been named accused in such cases.
The government has withdrawn many cases which are much more serious than this. In this situation, the government must show the moral responsibility to withdraw cases against innocent devotees. If not, the government’s hatred towards devotes will become clear, G. Sukumaran Nair said.
