Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed officials to probe the possibility of introducing air ambulance for patients in Kasaragod to avail treatment in Kozhikode and Kochi.
The CM’s office issued directions to the DGP and district Collectors of Kozhikode, Kasaragod and Ernakulam in this regard.
The move comes in the backdrop of 10 persons losing their lives as they did not receive timely treatment after Karnataka closed its border with Kasaragod.
People from Kasaragod depend on Mangaluru for advanced treatment. But if they are stopped at the border, lives could be lost. It is in this situation that the CM has intervened.
Earlier, the Gandhi Peace Foundation had petitioned the CM in this regard.
