Govt moves HC to cancel bail of Sriram Venkitaraman
Kochi: The government has filed a petition in the Kerala High Court on Wednesday to cancel the bail granted to Sriram Venkitaraman in connection with the accident case in which a journalist was killed. The government moved the court pointing out that the bail granted by the magistrate is not valid. The petition will be considered in the afternoon.
The government argued that though Sriram was not found to have been inebriated, the case for culpable murder will exist. The magistrate court’s finding was not correct. Also the government will argue in the high court that the magistrate court cannot grant bail in a case that should be tried in the sessions court.
Meanwhile, the medical board will release a medical bulletin regarding the health condition of Sriram on Wednesday. The medical board will examine various test results held the other day.
It is learnt that Sriram is likely to be shifted to a private hospital as he has been granted bail. Presently, he is under treatment at the trauma ICU of Thiruvananthapuram medical college.
