Kozhikode: A government employee Sileesh Thomas proved his innocence after the Court relieved him and noted that the case against him had been fabricated with the intention to trap him. Sileesh has filed a petition requesting a probe to find out the real culprits at Perambra Munsif court.

The then Koorachund village special officer Sileesh had been suspended and arrested following the suicide of a farmer Joy on June 21, 2017. Sileesh alleged that he was deliberately trapped in the case as he had taken strict action in the revenue recovery cases and complaints against quarries while serving in the village office at Chembanoda.

He obtained bail from the High Court after spending 24 days in prison. Later, he joined service following suspension of 169 days. Still he had to wait long to prove his innocence in the case. Finally, the Kozhikode sessions court declared Sileesh innocent on March 30, 2021. The court found the arguments of the prosecution and investigation report as fake.

Through the petition submitted recently at the Munsif court, Silleesh demanded a probe against a police officer and the relatives of the deceased farmer. He also requested to recoup Rs 18 lakh granted for the family from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund in order to waive off the loan. He had demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh in the petition.

Sileesh is now working as senior clerk at the office of revenue recovery tehsildar in Kozhikode.
