Govt approves Semi-High-Speed rail project alignment
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has sanctioned the alignment of Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod semi-high-speed railway project. A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan okayed the alignment here on Tuesday.
The high-speed railway service will commence from Kochuveli in Thiruvananthapuram. A new track will be constructed on the stretch of Thiruvananthapuram-Tirur. The new railway track will be laid parallel to the present track from Tirur to Kasaragod.
The state cabinet will approve the semi-high-speed rail project. A new railway station complex will be constructed at Kochuveli for this purpose. In Kollam, a new railway station will be established behind Medcity hospital. It is learned that over 9 railway stations will be constructed across the state under the project.
