Kochi: Kerala Social Justice Department has approved the proposal to give 4 per cent reservations to differently-abled persons in 654 posts suitable for them. Currently, only 3 per cent of the posts are reserved for differently abled candidates. Persons with complete or partial visual, or hearing impairments, those cured of leprosy, victims of acid attacks, people with autism, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disability and similar categories will be considered for the reservation.
Audit department
Auditor, confidential assistant grade II, office attender, administrative secretariat, finance secretariat, law secretariat and legislative secretariat are the few posts in the audit department reserved for this group of candidates.
Police department
As per the order, 4 per cent of the posts such as clerk, LD typist, librarian, confidential assistant grade II, office attendant, clerk cum typist, packer, imaging expert, and draftsman in the police department will be reserved for differently-abled category.
The differently abled will get reservation in a few similar posts in the Fire and Safety department, jail department, agriculture department, animal husbandry department, archaeological department, collegiate education, vigilance, and anti-corruption bureau. An expert panel had suggested the posts suitable for the differently abled.
