Govt appoints senior IAS officers to supervise development works in districts
Thiruvananthapuram: The government on Wednesday appointed senior IAS officials to supervise the development works in districts.
According to the order issued on the directions of the Chief Minister, the IAS officials should visit the respective districts allotted to them at least once in a month and should intervene in the development works and common issues of the district.
IAS officers from the level of Additional chief secretary to Secretaries have been given charge of the districts.
However, Finance department additional chief secretary KM Abraham has been excluded from the responsibility.
Altogether seven responsibilities have been entrusted on the IAS officials who visit the districts.
The IAS officials have been entrusted the following tasks - to conduct discussions with district officials about development and administration in the district, hold discussions with heads of local body institutions, to provide suggestions on solving various problems of the district, informing the government's projects and priority areas, evaluation of people's plan campaign and other projects, follow up of issues in which inter-departmental intervention is required and follow up of particular issues of the districts that are pointed out by department secretaries.
The officials should visit the entrusted districts once in a month to carry out these responsibilities.
The order asks the secretaries to take over the responsibilities of the districts by April 1.
The public administration department will coordinate the matters in this regard.
