Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has been excluded from the list of those who will officially receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kerala.

On Sunday, Khan arrived in Kochi to receive the prime minister, who is scheduled to arrive on Monday evening. However, he will return on Monday morning as his name was not included in the list.

Meanwhile, as the state government’s representative, Minister for Industries, P Rajeeve will receive the prime minister in Kochi.

Generally, state governors are included in the list of dignitaries who shall receive the prime minister during state visits. However, Khan’s name was excluded citing political nature of Modi’s visit.

Prime Minister Modi, who will be on a two-visit to the state, will inaugurate various projects, including the Vande Bharat Express and Kochi Water Metro.

He will further lay the foundation stone of the Digital Science Park in Thiruvananthapuram.
