Governor Arif Mohammad Khan
New Delhi: Kerala governor Arif Mohammad Khan came up with a serious allegation against Kannur University Vice Chancellor Dr Gopinath Raveendran. The governor claimed that attempts were made to physically harm him during his visits to Kannur University. Governor accused the vice chancellor of plotting the attack and called him a ‘criminal’.
Governor said that some persons attempted to attack him when he visited Kannur University for a history congress in December 2019. The shirt of his ADC Manoj Yadav was torn in the assault. Attempts of the attack were made twice against him, he said.
Governor questioned why the VC abstained from informing the police officers regarding the attack. VC had not submitted any report even after Raj Bhavan demanded a probe report over the attack. Governor alleged that the VC was also a part of the conspiracy to attack him.
He pointed out that the VC had conducted several illegal appointments at the university. “....He behaves not like a VC, but like a ruling party cadre member. I am going to have a full-fledged inquiry into the similar appointments during the last two-three years,” said the governor.
When enquired about the appointment of associate professor, governor told the media to leave it and accused VC of holding his office with political motives. “I usually stay away from speaking about VC publicly. But this time, I was forced to comment as the VC had violated all the limits,” added the governor.
