Government did not intervene in cartoon issue: A K Balan
Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Culture A K Balan said that the government did not intervene in the controversial cartoon issue. He alleged that there were attempts to defame the government by using a group of people.
“The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi is an organisation under the state government. The Akademi does not believe that it is independent but a lot of people think so. The government has no intolerance in this matter,” he said.
Government organisations including the Lalithakala Akademi are functioning as per law. The government is not that of particular group. The government will later examine the follow up measures taken up by the Lalithakala Akademi, he added.
It is not the government that said that a religious symbol was presented in an indecent manner but the group against which the image was published. We sought to re-examine the cartoon after allegations and complaints were raised against it.
