Goods train derails at Ambalappuzha; rail traffic disrupted
Alappuzha: A goods train carrying metal for track widening works derailed at Ambalappuzha. Following the incident, rail traffic was disrupted for over two hours.
The incident took place around 2.10 pm on Sunday. The goods train carrying metal for track widening works on between Haripad and Ambalappuzha derailed near Ambalappuzha station.
The derailment caused cracks on the tracks. This led to several passenger trains being stopped at various stations.
Kayamkulam-Ernakulam MEMU was halted at Ambalappuzha station. Other halted trains included the Alappuzha-Kannur Intercity and Hapa-Tirunelveli Superfast Express.
The Lokmanyatilak-Thiruvananthapuram Netravati express was delayed for two hours.
