Nedumbassery: Customs Air Intelligence department seized 1.982 kilograms of gold smuggled from UAE at Cochin International Airport here on Sunday. The officials arrested Malappuram natives Siddharth Madhusoodanan and Nithin Unnikrishnan, who arrived from Sharjah after seizing the gold.
Siddharth carried 1131 grams of the gold mixture while Nithin smuggled gold weighing 851 grams. The mixture of gold found hidden in their rectum in capsule forms covered in condoms.
Customs informed that gold worth over Rs 1 crore had been seized from both of them.
