Kochi: Swapna Suresh has been granted bail in the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case being investigated by the customs department. However, Swapna will not be released from jail as there is an NIA case against her.

It was the customs department that first filed an FIR in connection with the gold smuggling case. Earlier, Swapna had applied for bail twice in the Economic Offences Court. However, it was rejected both times. On Monday, the court granted her bail based on a plea that was filed later.

Swapna will not be released on bail since she is included in the case filed by NIA. The Enforcement Directorate has also filed a case against Swapna Suresh. Out of the 17 accused in the gold smuggling case, 10 have been granted bail so far.
