Gold smuggling case: UDF demands speaker's resignation
UDF convener Benny Behanan demanded that speaker P Sreeramakrishnan resign from his post as it has become clear that he is a friend of Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh.
In the discussions held within UDF, it has been decided that a no- trust motion will be moved against the government along with a motion against the speaker. Benny Behanan informed that the opposition leader would reveal about when this will be moved after holding discussions with other leaders.
It is not politically appropriate for a speaker to befriend a woman, who is an accused in gold smuggling case. And so the UDF leaders want to make a political move against the government and the speaker, Benny Behanan said.
He also stated that it is clear the moves made by the Chief Minister’s office was to protect the accused who was nabbed by the NIA and that it is in this context they demanded the resignation of the CM.
