Gold smuggling case: Protests against CM continue across state

Protests were staged in Kollam, Kozhikode, Pathanamthitta districts.

Kozhikode: Various youth outfits on Saturday too, took out protests demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in connection with the gold smuggling case. There were clashes between the protesters and the police in many parts. Protests were staged in Kollam, Kozhikode and Pathanamthitta districts.

There were clashes in the KSU march towards the Kollam collectorate. Police stopped the protesters when they tried to vandalise the barricade and tried to jump over the barricade. Following this, a tussle began and police resorted to water cannons.

There were clashes in the Yuva Morcha march held at Pathanamthitta as well. Police arrested and removed six party workers.

There were protests organised in Kozhikode under the leadership of BJP. Yuva Morcha leaders were beaten by the police during the protest march held here the other day. BJP had organised protest against this, violating COVID protocols.

Police blocked the protesters in front of the collectorate by erecting barricades.
