Gold smuggling case: NIA arrests 2 more people
Kochi: Two more arrests have been made in connection with the gold smuggling case. Malappuram natives Shefeeq and Sharafuddin were arrested by the NIA. Both of them worked as aides of KT Ramees, who is one of the main accused in the smuggling case. They will be taken to special NIA court on Tuesday afternoon.
It is reported that they used to distribute gold to the investors in Thiruvananthapuram in the absence of KT Ramees.
NIA has found out that Malappuram, Kozhikode natives had spent money for buying gold and Ramees’s aides used to work as middlemen in these transactions.
Meanwhile, NIA has requested to extend the remand period of Ramees for four more days. However, the court granted an extension of 3 days.
