Kochi: The Economic Offences Court here on Wednesday dismissed the bail plea moved by Chief Minister’s former principal secretary M. Sivasankar.

The Customs Department, which opposed granting bail to Sivasankar, had informed the court that the senior IAS officer had misused his position.

Despite having knowledge about illegal activities, Sivasankar did not inform the government agencies. This is a serious offence. Sivasankar misused his position of the CM’s principal secretary, the Customs said

If granted bail, Sivasankar would try to destroy evidence. He could pose a threat to the lives of Swapna, Sarith and Sandeep, Customs added. The officials also clarified to the court that Sivasankar was not cooperating with the investigation.
