Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the gold smuggling case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recorded the statements of Higher Education Minister K. T. Jaleel in two days, it is learned.
Reports suggested that the minister's statements were recorded on Thursday night and Friday morning.
Earlier, the ED had sought explanation from Jaleel in connection with the case. The minister had given the response in writing. It is based on this reply that the ED questioned the minister on the two days.
It is learned that Jaleel reached the ED office by 7.30 pm on Wednesday and returned around 11 pm. He came back to the ED office by 10 am on Friday. The minister is yet to give a formal response in this regard.
Higher officials of ED are examining the minister’s response. Once the process is complete, there will be clarity if Jaleel will be summoned again for questioning.
