Thiruvananthapuram: The former principal secretary to the CM and former IT secretary M. Sivasankar has been suspended from service pending inquiry, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

“A committee including the chief secretary and finance secretary had been appointed to probe matters relating to Sivasankar’s links with the accused in the gold smuggling case. Based on the committee’s report M. Sivasankar has been suspended for violation of service rules,” the CM said.

Pinarayi Vijayan added that the departmental inquiry against Sivasankar will continue. The CM added that details of other findings in the report will be made public after examination.

Pinarayi Vijayan added that police are investigating allegations of Swapna Suresh forging documents. “The NIA is investigating the gold smuggling case along with the alleged terrorist links of the accused. Kerala has no part in this and a CBI probe into this is not needed,” the CM added.
