Gold smuggling case: Enforcement Directorate also begins probe

Kochi: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) also started investigation into the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. ED has registered a case as per the Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets) and Imposition of Tax Act and Prevention of Gambling Act.

The investigation is related to the financial transaction with foreign sources. The ED started the probe as many black money dealers are involved in the gold smuggling.

As the gold was brought from abroad, calculating the value of the money and valuable assets and its management will be examined by the ED. A special unit of the ED will be handling the case.
