Gold smuggling case: Digital evidence becomes crucial; Swapna trying to protect top officials
Kochi: Digital evidence is getting more important in the gold smuggling case as accused Swapna Suresh is not cooperating with the investigation even after 2 months of her arrest. Enforcement Directorate South zone special director Sushil Kumar and NIA SP Rahul held a meeting on Wednesday evening. It is clear that the statement given by minister KT Jaleel to the ED contradicts the digital evidence collected by them.
All the accused in the gold smuggling case kept digital records to themselves. This is because those who were engaged in smuggling did not trust each other. The fact that all this evidence could be traced has been crucial in this investigation. There are 400 GB of digital evidence.
Swapna Suresh is not willing to reveal anything. The investigation officers believe she is trying to save top officials involved in the case. It is observed that she has taken all the necessary preparations in this regard.
Customs and NIA nabbed the accused in the gold smuggling case with the help of digital evidence. Otherwise, the case would have ended with a few accused, including Swapna Suresh. It is reported that there will be more arrests and interrogation in this regard.
