Koch: NIA stated that they have to examine whether the accused in the gold smuggling case, including KT Ramees, have any links with Dawood Ibrahim’s gang.
NIA informed the court that Ramees has smuggled guns from abroad.
NIA has raised serious allegations against the accused in the court. NIA informed that they have to examine whether the accused, including Ramees and Sharafuddin, have any connection with Dwaood Ibrahim’s gang.
NIA informed that they have been able to collect over 90 digital evidence. The documents from only 22 digital equipment were collected so far. NIA also informed the court that it was difficult for them to retrieve some of the evidence as some of the accused destroyed it when the case was registered.
The accused have visited foreign countries including Tanzania. NIA pointed out in the court that a man called Firos, who belongs to Dawood’s gang, is based in Tanzania. Hence, there should be more investigation into the Tanzania visit of the accused, NIA stated.
NIA also informed about Ramees’s attempts to buy guns from Tanzania. It was at this point that the court observed that the accused committed a serious criminal offense in the gold smuggling case. However, the court remarked that it was considering more evidence in connection with UAPA charges against the accused.
