Customs summoned Anil Nambiar to take his statements regarding his phone calls with the accused Swapna Suresh.

Kochi: The Customs department interrogated journalist Anil Nambiar for more than five hours in connection with the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. However, reports suggest that he will be summoned for further interrogation as his statements lacked clarity.

Customs summoned Anil Nambiar to take his statements regarding his phone calls with the accused Swapna Suresh. Customs had found that Anil maintained a close relationship with Swapna.

He was interrogated at the Kochi customs department office from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm. The department will proceed with further course of action after examining his statement carefully.

Customs department found out about the details of their phone conversation from July 5, the day the gold was seized at the airport. Swapna Suresh had stated that she sought his help to release the gold from the airport. Customs interrogated Anil Nambiar to get more clarity on the matter.
