Gold smuggling case: CM’s former IT fellow Arun Balachandran appears for interrogation
Kochi: The Chief Minister’s former IT fellow Arun Balachandran appeared before the Customs department for interrogation in connection with the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case.
The interrogation is taking place at the Customs office in Kochi. Although Arun was asked to appear the previous day, the interrogation was rescheduled to Friday after he conveyed about inconvenience.
Earlier, the Customs department had found out that the conspiracy for the gold smuggling was hatched by the accused Swapna Suresh, Sandeep and Sarith inside the flat near the secretariat,which was arranged by Arun. However, Arun told the media that he had arranged the flat based on the instructions of Chief Minister’s former private secretary, M. Sivasankar.
Customs will try to get more clarity on these details during the interrogation and will also ask Arun about his connections with the accused in the case.
