Kochi: Some crucial information was collected from the WhatsApp message exchanged by former IT secretary M Sivasankar and the gold smuggling accused, it is learnt.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is planning to interrogate them again suspecting their involvement in the projects related to the state government. It was found that they had engaged in WhatsApp chats about the government projects.

Ernakulam principal sessions court granted permission to the ED for interrogating Swapna Suresh, P. S. Sarith and Sandeep Nair. All three of them will be quizzed separately on three days in the prison. The questioning should be scheduled from 10 am to 4 pm.

ED said they have collected some new information regarding the case and the accused should be interrogated again on the basis of this. Some WhatsApp messages are suspicious. Sivasankar has made some new revelations on this. The interrogation will be on the basis of these details.

The probe team assumes that commission was handed over in connection with some government projects and some other irregularities have taken place. Following this, the ED gave a letter to the IT secretary requesting all documents regarding K-FON, Smart City, E-Mobility and Down Town projects.

Swapna Suresh is lodged in Attakulangara women's prison as per COFEPOSA Act. Sarith is in Viyyurprison in Thrissur and Sandeep Nair in COFEPOSA special prison in Thiruvananthapuram. After collecting information from them, Sivasankar is likely to be questioned again. Sivasankar's custody period ends on Thursday.
