Gold Medalist's suicide leaves Kollengode natives under shock
Palakkad: Krishnakumari, a research student was forced to end her life leaving all her achievements of academic excellence and her dreams to reach heights. Natives of Payyallur Mokku at Kollengode here were shocked when they came to know about her death on Sunday night.
Krishnakumari was a brilliant student since childhood. As her father Krishnankutty was a soldier, Krishnakumari and her three sisters completed their studies in Gujarat and other north Indian states.
Along with serving the nation, Krishnankutty and his wife Ramadevi took efforts to give the best education to their four daughters. The family was on cloud nine when the two daughters opted for their career as assistant professors and one joined research after completing their post-graduation.
Krishnakumari completed her B.Tech and M.Tech with high marks from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Gujarat. She is also a recipient of Inspire Award, fellowship and gold medal.
In 2020, she also bagged the Awsar award for best science paper instituted by the ministry of science, India.
But even after making all these achievements, she was disappointed for not getting encouragement from people including her research guide at the college where she was doing her PhD.
MLA K Babu stated that he will seek Tamil Nadu Education Minister's attention to the mental harassment faced by Krishnakumari at the college in Coimbatore.
