Give Muvattupuzha to get Kuttanad, says Joseph faction
Kottayam: The Kerala Congress Joseph faction has come out with a condition to offer the Kuttanad seat to the Congress for the coming by poll. It said that the seat would be offered to the Congress only if it is ready to give the Muvattupuzha seat to them in the next Assembly polls.
The Joseph faction has come out with this offer even as Jose K Mani faction had reiterated that Kuttanad seat would not be given away. Jacob Abraham, who is now with the Joseph faction, had contested against Thomas Chandy in Kuttanad last time. The Joseph group wants Jacob Abraham to contest from Kuttanad for the bypoll. But if at all it has to leave the Kuttanad seat to the Congress, then as an alternative it asked for the Muvattupuzha seat well in advance.
When bypolls to the Pala seat contested by the late K M Mani came up, the UDF allotted the seat to the Jose faction. The Joseph faction wanted the same stand to be taken for the Kuttanad bypolls too. The Jose faction will convene a meeting today in Kuttanad regarding the bypoll.
Meanwhile, all attempts are being made by the Joseph faction to bring K Francis George, Chairman of Janadhipathya Kerala Congress, into its fold. Earlier it was with the Joseph faction but later broke and formed the Janadhipathya Kerala Congress to align with the LDF. The Joseph faction is trying to merge it or will try to bring Francis George into the party.
