Alappuzha: Several benevolent hearts came together to raise funds for Alappuzha native Chinju Antony, who is suffering from a rare genetic skin disease Lamellar Ichthyosis. She has to douse herself in water often, otherwise, the skin would tear apart. Mathrubhumi.com published Chinju's story and sought help for her to construct a house without much heat. Soon people started to extend financial support for her and she received Rs 3,78,727 till now.

Some of them had sent up to Rs 10,000. According to Chinju, the financial aid is a great relief for her and she has no words to describe her gratitude. But the dream of a house still remains elusive for her. A house that is clean and traps less heat is necessary for her in this condition.

She could not find a job because of her serious skin disorder. As the skin from her fingers kept on shedding, she could not even complete biometric details and get an Aadhaar card. It would be an immense help if she could obtain a government job at least on a temporary basis.

Her disease will turn worse usually in summer. The heat in the house roofed by sheets is also unbearable to her. Amid the pain and lots of medicines, the only solace in Chinju’s life is her drawing skill.
